Three’s Company
November 9, 2020 was all but a normal day in my household. The days leading up to this one were anxiety riveting. “Software Engineer” so sophisticated, so complex, and so … exciting! Mixed emotions flood through me as I began the orientation. Enoch our cohort is extremely nice, he even says “Thank you!” to the robotic lady that tells us we’re being recorded during our zoom meetings. Even though I am a little nervous and anxious to jump deep into this journey, I can’t help but think what it will do for my family and myself!
I have no excuses , but only reasons for starting this class. My first reason is my family. My wife is awesome! She is beautiful, smart, intuitive, comical, nurturing, loving, well you get it at this point. She is the Mitochondria of our house. She even gave a natural child birth to our beautiful 3 month old Rosemarie Theresa Elaine Spencer. She is my second reason. This little girl has given me a new drive! Her smile wipes all worries away. She lets me know with one smile that even in defeat she still loves me, and that is what keeps me going. I would drive myself insane to do anything for my girls, and they are my reasons for bettering myself and bettering their lives!
This first week of boot camp has been nothing short of hard. Loops, Iteration, Arrays, Hashes, etc. This is all work of the devil himself. Luckily I have some amazing class mates! One of them had the great idea of opening a Zoom Room 24/7 for us students. That way we can help each other out with assignments. It also doesn’t hurt that our classmates are a group of comedians. Definitely relieves some tension when coding.
I got through the first week and I think I can confidently say I can read the code and understand it, but I’m not to confident thinking in code, and I know this will come with practice. Which I am more than determined to face this challenge. I know all of this is achievable as long as I have the people I love and support me in my circle!
